Punch Needle Finish: Tulips from Jo's Country Junction

I finished a punch needle piece today. I’ve had the punching done for a little bit now. I forgot to take a picture and share with you that this was finished. Here’s a picture from when I was still working on it. I’m pretty sure this one came from the thrift store many years ago. …

Punch Needle Finish: Star from Jo's Country Junction

You might remember this punch needle piece that I finished punching at the end of January. This is a Country Threads punch needle piece called Every Little Bit Helps. It is no longer in print as far as I know. The piece had been languishing here as I couldn’t come to a conclusion on how …

Punch Needle Finish: Bluebird Love from Jo's Country Junction

I finished my punch needle piece. I’m so happy to have it done. I bought this from Needlework Market last year. I told myself I couldn’t by any other punch needle until it was finished…and now look, it’s fully finished! I’m so happy. The pattern is Bluebird Love by Teresa Kogut. I used a variety …

Punch Needle Finishes: Two of Them! from Jo's Country Junction

My friend Gloria and her husband Gaylen stopped by over the holiday break. Gloria knew I was hoping for a refresher for punch needle. I’ve done a few punch needle projects and have enjoyed it but then it fell to the wayside and I forgot how. I didn’t really forget, I just didn’t remember the …

Best of 2024 and Free Motion Mavericks from Quilting & Learning

It's that time of year again - reflecting on 2024 and then planning for 2025. Usually in my best of post, I sum up the whole year, but this year, since I have quarter posts of what I've done (and a fourth quarter post to come), I've decided to just highlight my favourites in each of my categories (quilts, challenges, journal making, art quilts, mindful stitching/embroidery and miscellaneous projects). I'm linking up to Meadow Mist Designs' Best of 2024 linking party. Thanks Cheryl!

Small Quilts this year

This year I didn't make any large quilts ...

Updates and Happy New Year! from Quilting & Learning

Hi and welcome! I hope that you had a good New Year's Eve and a great New Year's Day. It's been raining here so most of the snow has melted, but we did have a white Christmas and it's now snowing again! I didn't get much sewing or slow stitching during the holidays except for yesterday and today. It's great getting back to it

The Light Box from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

To do punch needle, you need to trace off a design onto fabric. A light box isn’t necessary but it’s helpful. I have a light box. It’s small and I don’t think it would be great for tracing anything but the smallest of punch needle designs, I can’t even find it. I did find it...

Punch Needle from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

In November, 2020 when the cross stitch bug hit me, I also bought a couple of punch needle kits and a couple of punch needle patterns. After looking at the Punch Needle & Primitive Stitcher magazine yesterday, I’m wanting to start doing punch needle. I watched a few videos and some use hoops but many...

sheep pillow from Making A Lather

This is  an old rug hooking/ needle punch project that I have not finished. I took it with me to rug hooking along with my featherweight, and sewed it into a pillow. I used a pillow form from Goodwill for the stuffing. Besides the cute sheep, I liked the project  since it was hooked on a wool fabric instead of a typical rug hooking backing. Before I start a new rug project, I am trying to empty the unfinished drawer. I still have 2 or 3 bigger projects in the drawer to finish.

I like that is a two sided ...
